Welcome back!
Today we alerted you to the "Independent Reading Project." You will read a book by May 12. You'll write a book review on May 13. Students who videotape their book review for the library will have the option for extra points.
In other words, pick a book this week and start reading. If you need help selecting a book see one of us, Mrs. Brosan, or one of the other wonderful women who work in the library.
Today we continued reading the excerpt from "Farewell to Manzanar" and worked on the Reading Guide.
We will give you time again in class to continue your analysis of the literary nonfiction excerpt.

Tuesday, April 26
Agenda:
Reading Moment: (Mrs. Redmond) Hunger Games and trilogy by Suzanne Collins
1. Bellringer:
What details give you a clear, concise picture of one of the excerpts we read?
Pick either excerpt: Night or Farewell to Manzanar. Go directly to the text and pick 10 descriptive
phrases (include the page number) which capture the essence of the excerpt. Make sure as a whole you select details which describe the who, what, where, when, why, and how of the excerpt.

2. The main focus is reading the excerpt of "Farewell to Manzanar" and finishing the Reading Guide.
3. Did you check the wiki for clues to the final?
